What a Good Airbnb Turnover Covers

A short-term rental turnover is judged by someone who has never seen the place before and is paying to be there. That makes it a different job from cleaning your own home. The goal isn't only clean, it's consistent: the unit should look the same for every guest who opens the door.
Start with the rooms guests inspect first
Guests head for the bathroom and the bed almost immediately. Toilets, showers, sinks and mirrors should be spotless, and the bed made with fresh linens. In the kitchen, the counters, the sink, the stovetop and the microwave, inside as well as out, are what people look at before they cook.
The small things get noticed
Smudged light switches and door handles, streaks on mirrors and glass, cobwebs in a high corner and crumbs under the table all show up in photos and reviews. A turnover that follows a written checklist catches them every time, not most of the time.
Leave the linens where they'll be found
If your cleaner is making the beds, put the clean sheets and towels somewhere obvious. The edge of the bed works well. It saves a search and keeps the turnover on schedule when the next check-in is only a few hours away.
Keep a host's list of your own
Restocking, inventory and damage checks vary from one host to the next. Write down what you expect after each stay, such as coffee, toiletries and spare bulbs, so whoever turns the unit over knows exactly where cleaning ends and hosting begins.
